Constructional courseware

By definition from online dictionary, courseware gave me educational software designed especially for use with classroom computers. So constructional courseware means we as a teacher, construct specific educational software in order to be used by the students in the classroom computers.

I found some examples from the websites which shows that some educators have proved the success. One of them is, Lu Xiaoying; He Jian; Qin Tiang; Jiang Dongxu; Chen Wei,Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, in their summary, “In order to reform the traditional teaching methodology and to improve the teaching effect, we developed new teaching system for course "biomedical materials" in our university by the support of the computer technique and Internet. The new teaching system includes the construction of the multimedia courseware and Web-based e-learning courses. More than 2000 PowerPoint slides have been designed and optimized and flash movies for several capitals are included. On the basis of this multimedia courseware, a Web-based educational environment has been established further, which includes course contents, introduction of the teacher, courseware download, study forum, sitemap of the Web, and relative link. The multimedia courseware has been introduced in the class teaching for "Biomedical Materials" for 6 years and a good teaching effect has been obtained. The Web-based e-learning courses have been constructed for two years and proved that they are helpful for the students by their preparing and reviewing the teaching contents before and after the class teaching”.

From the summary, even though they applied the technique in the University, the idea of constructional courseware is still the same. We still can use this idea and perform to our students in primary or secondary school.

In my point of view, as we are now in 21th Century, a better approach for teaching is no longer chalk and talk but is through constructivism. So the computer will help us to attract the students to become more interested in learning during school day. So as what the example has explained above, we should come out with the same idea. Constructing the courseware that suits with the subjects taught at school. Every teacher no matter what subject they are teaching, they should be aware of this technology and be prepared to implement it.
